The first reason is reality.  We would love to live in a world where nobody crash dieted, where everybody followed sane and safe dieting strategies and stuck with it in the long term until they reached their goal and then stuck with those newfound eating habits in the long-term.  However, many people find themselves in a situation where losing a pound or two per week isn’t going to cut it.  The class reunion or vacation to the Bahamas is right around the corner and they have a month to lose three months of weight.  The end result is scouring the internet or book store for the latest goofy and questionably effective fad diet and winging it from there.

We know that mainstream nutritionist types will tell you that crash dieting is always bad but,  as with just about any absolutist stance, this isn’t necessarily correct. The bottom line is this... no matter what we or anybody else says about it, people are going to crash diet.  Sometimes it’s necessary or beneficial, other times it’s not.  Regardless, people are going to do it.  With that realization made, we figure that the least that can be done is to make sure that such crash diets are done as safely and as intelligently as possible. Using nutritional science and research, we can develop a crash diet that isn’t totally stupid, that will be safe and sane (within the limits of crash dieting) at least compared to everything else that’s out there.

Trust me, there’s a lot of really dumb ways to lose weight fast out there.  All vegetables, all fruit, nothing but broth, that cabbage soup thing, just a lot of scary, stupid stuff.  This book isn’t such an approach.  It relies on cutting edge nutritional science to ensure that rapid weight/fat loss is accomplished as effectively and safely as possible.  We’d be lying if we said it was an easy diet, but it is an effective one.


How Does It Work?
The Metabolic Makeover starts with a scientifically precise metabolic rate test called the Body Gas Exchange Measurement or BodyGEM.  The BodyGEM is a medical grade instrument that looks like a snorkel attached to a computer.  By breathing into the BodyGEM for approximately 10 minutes, we can determine the exact number of calories needed to optimize your fat loss.

Picking your Meals
Participants select their personal favorite meals from a list of over 50 Breakfasts, Lunches and Dinners comprised of regular grocery store food.  Each meal selection recipe is portion adjusted to provide the exact amount of calories required for safe,
effective and lasting fat loss based on the participants metabolic rate.  The menus are simple and very tasty.   Participants are not required to purchase special foods.

Adding Special Exercise
The personalized eating plan is combined with a unique Superslow® exercise program, designed to increase metabolism, prevent muscle loss, and increase the physiological signals for fat breakdown and metabolism better than any other exercise plan.   Final Results Fitness has pioneered this unique workout system since 1988 and is the only facility in Pennsylvania licensed

The Personal Coaching plan is designed for the person who needs additional accountability and lifestyle “coaching”.  It includes all the features of the regular Metabolic Makeover plus once a week 60 minute appointments with your coach to discuss your weight loss, food intake, exercise and behavior over the past week.   You and your coach will come up with a game plan for the upcoming week and finish with a personal training workout.
